Things to know

I have never done Pilates before. Is Hart Pilates suitable for me?

Absolutely. We love welcoming new clients to the practice. We believe that a strong foundation is the key to safe and effective movement. That is why we offer a full Introductory Consultation specifically for those new to Pilates. It’s a private, one-on-one session designed to get you comfortable, confident, and ready to begin your journey.

What happens during the Introductory Consultation?

Think of this as a personalised roadmap for your wellness journey. During this 1-on-1 session, we perform a comprehensive assessment to understand your body, your history, and your specific goals. You’ll receive a full breakdown of the core Pilates exercises, tailored to any specific needs or requirements you may have. We ensure you understand the movements before you start your regular classes, so you can train safely and effectively.

Is there an introductory offer for this consultation?

Yes. We offer our Introductory Consultation at a reduced price. We believe that proper instruction from day one is essential, and this special rate allows you to experience our expert, personalised approach without the pressure of a full-price booking.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just yourself! We provide all the equipment you need. Please remember to wear grip socks, and we recommend arriving 5 minutes early to settle in.

What is the difference between Reformer and Mat Pilates?
  • Reformer Pilates: Uses a specialised machine with a sliding carriage and adjustable springs. It provides resistance and support, making it excellent for building strength, improving posture, and targeting specific muscle groups. Our 1:1 reformer sessions are highly focused.
  • Mat Pilates: Focuses on using your own body weight and props (like balls or bands). It is a fantastic way to develop core strength, body awareness, and flexibility. Our 2:1 Mat sessions allow you to train alongside a friend while still receiving detailed correction.
I have a specific injury or health condition. Is Pilates safe for me?

Yes, in many cases Pilates is an excellent tool for rehabilitation. Founder Holley Tierney holds advanced qualifications, including Level 4 Exercise for Lower Back Pain, GP Referral, and Exercise for Disabilities. Because our sessions are private (1:1 or 2:1), we can modify every single movement to fit your physical needs.

Note: If you are currently under the care of a doctor or physiotherapist for a serious condition, we always recommend getting clearance from them before starting a new exercise programme.
